The challenge brief

Strength. Efficiency. Engineering.

Teams receive a material budget and a structural target. They must design, build and load-test a structure while balancing strength, weight and resource cost.

Agree the mission rules and success criteria during the briefing, then let your team choose its approach.

What shapes the challenge
  • Material quantity is limited
  • The structure must meet a defined geometry
  • Testing is mandatory
  • Efficiency can be scored alongside load capacity
Inside the experience

Your mission, step by step.

A practical progression from the first decision to the final demonstration.

01

Analyse the structural requirement

Clarify the target dimensions, load and material budget.

02

Create a low-cost design

Compare structural ideas before committing materials to the build.

03

Build the structure

Construct the selected form and pay attention to supports and connections.

04

Load-test and identify weaknesses

Apply the agreed load test and observe how the structure changes.

05

Optimise the final version

Strengthen the weak points while keeping weight and resource cost in view.

Purpose behind the experience

Build capability through participation.

Efficiency

Compare structural performance with material consumption.

Risk management

Observe where the structure is vulnerable under the agreed test.

Planning

Choose a design and build sequence before using the resource budget.

Continuous improvement

Improve weak points using the evidence from the load test.

Bring the learning back to work.

This challenge makes trade-offs tangible: adding material can increase strength, but it can also increase cost and complexity.

Make it work for your team

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Planning details for Structural Engineering Challenge. Bring any additional requirements into your conversation with Sieger.

Can non-engineers participate?

Yes. The challenge is visual, hands-on and designed around experimentation.

Can we include a budget?

Yes. Each material can carry a virtual cost to create a commercial decision layer.

Can Sieger customise the challenge for our objective?

Yes. Difficulty, narrative, scoring, team size, duration, venue layout and the workplace behaviour being explored can all be customised.

Can this be combined with other technology experiences?

Yes. The experience can be combined with electronics, drones, robotics, STEM, software, AI and mechanical challenges to create a larger technology challenge journey.

How many people can take part in Structural Engineering Challenge?

The current planning format is 20–120 participants, organised into teams of 5–6. Confirm the final group size with Sieger so equipment, facilitator coverage and team rotations can be planned.

How long should we allow for the experience?

The indicative activity duration is 60 min. Briefing, practice, team presentations and debrief requirements can affect the final agenda; agree the complete session timing during planning.

What equipment is involved?

The proposed kit includes Structural materials, Weights, Supports, Measuring tools, and Engineering scorecard. Confirm the final equipment list, participant devices and venue requirements with the programme team.

Who is this experience suited to?

The existing format is designed with engineering teams, operations teams, leadership groups, project teams in mind. Share participants’ experience levels so the technical depth and facilitation can be matched to the group.

How are the results discussed?

The facilitator can use the agreed challenge rules, team decisions and observed results to guide the debrief. The discussion connects efficiency, risk management, planning to situations your team encounters at work.

How do we plan a Structural Engineering Challenge session?

Send your preferred date, location, participant count and learning objective through the enquiry form or call +91 98400 97567. Sieger can discuss the suitable format, equipment, venue needs and proposal.
